Precision Management of Every Plantation Block
Farm Block Management is a core module of the TerraForestry™ Farm Management Platform, designed to divide a plantation into clearly defined, digitally mapped, and operationally manageable farm blocks.
Each block becomes a distinct production and management unit with its own location, trees, activities, inputs, costs, growth data, risks, harvest projections, and performance history.
1. FARM BLOCK STRUCTURE
TerraForestry™ organizes a plantation into a hierarchical structure:
PLANTATION
↓
FARM BLOCK
↓
SUB-BLOCK / PLOT
↓
TREE / PLANTING UNIT
For example:
TerraForestry™ Plantation A
→ Block A01
→ Block A02
→ Block A03
→ Block A04
Each block can then be subdivided into smaller operational plots.
2. DIGITAL BLOCK PROFILE
Every block receives a Digital Block Record containing:
- Block ID
- GPS boundaries
- Total area
- Elevation
- Slope
- Soil characteristics
- Agroforestry system
- Species
- Planting date
- Planting density
- Number of trees
- Tree age
- Survival rate
- Management status
- Assigned farm team
- Infrastructure
- Risk classification
Example
| Parameter | Block A01 |
|---|---|
| Area | 5.0 ha |
| Species | Aquilaria malaccensis |
| Planting Date | 2027 |
| Initial Trees | 2,500 |
| Current Trees | 2,420 |
| Survival | 96.8% |
| Density | 500 trees/ha |
| Status | Productive Growth |
| Management Zone | North |
| Harvest Class | Future |
3. BLOCK MAPPING
Each block is digitally mapped using GPS/GIS.
The map can identify:
- Block boundaries
- Roads
- Drainage
- Water sources
- Buildings
- Nursery areas
- Firebreaks
- Slopes
- Conservation zones
- Individual tree locations
- High-risk areas
This creates a digital plantation map that can be updated as the plantation develops.
4. BLOCK-LEVEL OPERATIONS
Every farm activity can be assigned to a specific block.

The system records what was done, where, when, by whom, and at what cost.
5. BLOCK INPUT MANAGEMENT
TerraForestry™ tracks agricultural inputs at block level.
Inputs → Block → Application → Cost → Performance
Examples:
- Biofertilizers
- Soil amendments
- Biological control products
- Irrigation
- Mulching materials
- Planting materials
- Labor
- Equipment
- Other farm supplies
This allows management to determine the true cost per hectare and per tree.
6. TREE INVENTORY BY BLOCK
Each block maintains a continuously updated tree inventory.
Tree ID → Block → Location → Species → Age → Growth → Health → Treatment → Status
Tree status can include:
🟢 Healthy
🟡 Monitoring
🟠 At Risk
🔴 Diseased/Damaged
⚫ Dead
🔵 Harvest Ready
For agarwood plantations, the inventory can additionally record resin-development status.
7. BLOCK PERFORMANCE MONITORING
TerraForestry™ compares blocks to identify high- and low-performing areas.
Key KPIs
- Survival %
- Trees/ha
- Growth rate
- Diameter growth
- Height growth
- Biomass
- Tree health
- Mortality
- Input efficiency
- Labor productivity
- Cost/ha
- Cost/tree
- Projected yield
- Projected revenue
This enables block-by-block performance benchmarking.
8. AGARWOOD BLOCK MANAGEMENT
For an agarwood plantation, blocks can be classified according to production stage:
BLOCK 01
Establishment
Planting and early growth.
BLOCK 02
Vegetative Development
Nutrition and canopy development.
BLOCK 03
Maturation
Tree growth and preparation for resin development.
BLOCK 04
Resin Development
Induction and resin-development monitoring.
BLOCK 05
Harvest Preparation
Yield assessment and harvest planning.
BLOCK 06
Harvest & Recovery
Harvest, regeneration, and replanting.
9. BLOCK TRACEABILITY
Each harvested tree can be traced back to its original block.
Finished Product
↓
Processing Batch
↓
Harvest Lot
↓
Tree ID
↓
Farm Block
↓
Plantation
↓
Planting Material
This creates a powerful farm-to-product traceability system through integration with AgriTrace™.
10. BLOCK FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Each block can function as an individual economic unit.
Block Economics
Revenue
− Harvest Value
− Operating Costs
− Labor
− Inputs
− Maintenance
− Processing
= Block Contribution
Management can therefore compare:
Block A01 vs. Block A02 vs. Block A03
to identify which areas generate the strongest biological and financial performance.
11. BLOCK RISK MANAGEMENT
TerraForestry™ can assign risk indicators to individual blocks.
Risk Categories:
- Fire
- Drought
- Flood
- Erosion
- Pest
- Disease
- Storm
- Theft
- Unauthorized harvesting
- Infrastructure damage
High-risk blocks can receive priority inspections and intervention.
