Harvest & Processing

Converting Mature Plantation Assets into Traceable, High-Value Products

Harvesting is the point where years of plantation management are converted into commercial value. TerraForestry™ integrates harvest planning, responsible extraction, grading, primary processing, traceability, and downstream value creation into one controlled system.

Our Harvest & Processing Model

1. Harvest Readiness Assessment

Harvest decisions are based on the biological and commercial maturity of the plantation asset, rather than simply tree age.

Assessment may consider:

  • Tree health and structural condition
  • Resin development
  • Resin distribution and density
  • Expected product quality
  • Harvest economics
  • Applicable harvesting regulations
  • Market requirements

For agarwood, harvesting should be conducted only under the applicable Philippine regulatory framework and with appropriate documentation.

2. Responsible Harvesting

TerraForestry™ aims to minimize unnecessary damage and maximize usable material.

The process includes: Harvest Planning → Tree Identification → Cutting → Recovery → Segregation → Documentation

Harvested material remains linked to its original plantation block and tree records wherever practical.

3. Primary Processing

Freshly harvested material is separated according to its physical and commercial characteristics.

Potential processing streams include:

  • Resin-rich wood
  • Agarwood chips
  • Larger wood pieces
  • Lower-resin material
  • Wood suitable for extraction
  • Biomass and secondary material

This allows different portions of the harvest to be directed toward their highest-value application.

4. Grading & Quality Classification

A structured grading system can consider: Resin Content + Resin Distribution + Aroma + Colour + Density + Wood Characteristics + Intended Use

Material can then be classified for:

Premium High-value aromatic wood and specialized products
Standard Incense, chips and selected commercial applications
Processing Grade Material intended primarily for oil or extract production
Secondary Biomass Appropriate lower-value utilization where commercially and environmentally suitable

5. Value-Added Processing

TerraForestry™ seeks to move beyond selling raw harvested wood.

Solid Products

  • Premium agarwood chips
  • Incense materials
  • Carved or specialty wood products

Extraction Products

  • Oud oil
  • Agarwood extracts
  • CO₂ extracts
  • Hydrosols
  • Other botanical fractions

Finished Products

  • Luxury fragrance
  • Incense
  • Personal-care products
  • Wellness and botanical products

This creates a cascading value model, where different grades and fractions are directed toward appropriate markets.

6. Digital Traceability

Through AgriTrace™, harvested material can retain its production history:

Plantation → Block → Tree → Harvest → Batch → Processing → Product

This supports:

  • Provenance
  • Inventory control
  • Quality management
  • Sustainability reporting
  • Regulatory documentation
  • Customer confidence

For internationally traded agarwood, traceability is particularly important because Aquilaria species are regulated under CITES and applicable Philippine wildlife/forestry requirements must be observed.

The Cascading Value Principle

Nothing of commercial value should be wasted.

A high-quality harvest can generate multiple product streams:

Premium Wood → Premium Products
Resin-Rich Chips → Incense / Extraction
Processing Material → Oud Oil / Botanical Extracts
Secondary Material → Appropriate By-Products

This improves overall resource efficiency and potential plantation economics.
